The Path to the Team

Admission to our elite Triple Threat Competition Team is by audition only. We look for dedicated performers with a strong technical foundation, a coachable attitude, and a true passion for storytelling. Placement is earned each year, ensuring our performers are grouped where they will be both challenged and positioned to thrive.

To be a true “Triple Threat,” team members are required to train across all performance disciplines. Mandatory training includes dedicated classes in Vocal Performance, Acting, Musical Theater Jazz, Tap, and foundational Technique and Conditioning. This comprehensive training ensures our performers are exceptionally versatile, resilient, and fully prepared to go head-to-head with the most notable studios at premier regional and national events.

Past competitions include MTC, TIA, and Energy.

This program is a major investment of time and energy, but for the performer ready to outwork the competition, the growth and rewards are unmatched.

We challenge our performers to push boundaries and discover the strongest, most captivating version of themselves under the brightest lights.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know joining a competitive team is a big decision, so we’ve gathered answers to our most frequently asked questions to help you navigate the season ahead.

While requirements vary slightly by age division, we look for a strong foundation in core musical theater elements. At a minimum, performers should demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Vocal & Pitch Control: Ability to hold a pitch, project healthily, and confidently sing a selection of musical theater repertoire (with proper breath support).
  • Characterization & Acting: Strong storytelling abilities, expressive facial execution, and the ability to stay fully “in character” throughout a routine.
  • Dance & Movement: Clean, centered double pirouettes, sharp jazz technique, foundational tap steps, and strong spatial awareness during group staging.
  • Stage Presence: High energy, projection, and the unmistakable spark it takes to captivate an audience from the stage.

What Matters Most: Beyond this checklist of skills, our directors look for adaptability and coachability. We value a performer who takes direction instantly, picks up choreography and lyrics quickly, and displays a strong stage presence just as much as raw vocal or dance technique.

To maintain our elite standard, all Triple Threat team members are required to train in our full musical theater curriculum. A true triple threat cannot cut corners. While faculty will determine specific routine roles and placements (solos, duets, trios, or production groups), well-rounded training in voice, acting, and multiple dance styles is mandatory for every team member.

Our Triple Threat team focuses exclusively on premier, high-caliber competitive circuits that specifically celebrate and evaluate musical theater. This ensures our performers receive maximum exposure to top-tier industry judges, Broadway veterans, and exceptional talent from across the region.

Musical theater routines rely heavily on complex staging, vocal harmonies, and intricate character interactions. Because choreography and vocal parts rely on every single performer being present, perfect attendance is crucial. Unexcused absences can result in a performer being removed from a routine, so we ask that families review the schedule carefully before committing to the season.

Yes. No spots are guaranteed from year to year. Every performer—both new and returning—must audition annually. This ensures that groups are balanced correctly and that placements and routine levels reflect the current skill, vocal growth, and maturity level of each performer.

Just like a professional stage production, every musical theater routine is cast based on the specific needs of the choreography and the music. Casting decisions are made entirely at the discretion of the directors and faculty. Roles are assigned based on a combination of audition performance, technical skill, vocal suitability for a specific track, and the performer’s overall stage maturity.
